Parent Job Descriptions
Production – organize the playbill (program), collect and type the wish you luck lines, Help solicit advertisements for our playbill. Collect ticket sale money and prepare for deposit.
Costumes - We need people to begin organizing the alteration of costumes, adding of trim, hemming, etc.
Set build – communicate with Directors about set pieces that need building. Also help with the transport of pieces. We usually have one build weekend about a month before the show to finish up pieces but build throughout the process..
Set Paint – Organize people and supplies. Will need everyone to bring your paint brushes, rollers and all painting equipment.
Set Dress – (making the set pieces look realistic on stage… like adding a clovers and leaves) Obtain a list from directors and organize the obtaining of the items required (purchase, rent, borrow), have items available to the director for running scenes
Props – (Props are anything that will be held by the actors on the stage during the show) – Obtain a prop list from directors and organize the obtaining of the items required (purchase, rent, borrow), have props available to the director for running scenes, create a prop table in the theater for shows
Rehearsal assistants – Organize parent volunteers at large cast rehearsals.
Publicity – communicate with the Director and with First Impressions on a schedule for publicity. Contact papers/local organizations about publicity. Hang up posters and organize places for yard signs etc.
Cast Bios. - Collect the kids’ bios and make sure they are proofread and appropriate and ready to go to print for our program
Food Service – we need parents to help organize our snacks and food nights at the theater.. Solicit donations from parents for food. Organize parent supervisors and donations for those nights.
Cast Party – need four parents to organize the cast party that will take place between shows on Saturday (no one leaves the theater) The cast party will also include Bruce Grothenhuis’ team.
Front of House – need a group of parents to plan for and decorate the front of HHS Auditorium. Utilizing our theme for our show. This group is also responsible for designing and making the photo cards for the cast. Mrs. Falls can explain.
Souvenir Sales - need a group of parents to organize workers and the purchasing and selling of souvenirs Shrek stuff, some have already been purchased - at our concession stand.
Flower sales - need a group of parents to organize workers and the purchasing and selling of flowers at our concession stand.
Concessions – need a group of parents to organize workers and the purchasing and selling of concessions for our concession stand.
Box Office – organizes the parent volunteers to work the ticket booths each night of the shows, counts and delivers money to Mrs. Falls during intermission
Ushers – need four parents to be in charge of ushers. We would like to use the kids’ we didn’t cast in the show and other kids not a part of the production. Parents would be responsible for teaching the students how to be a good usher, etc.
Backstage Supervision - each night in the theater, we will need chaperones in the dressing rooms, green room, and backstage during the show..
Craft Day - grades k-5 will purchase tickets to “Swamp Time” and make crafts with other Shrek Characters
